Coaching with Lauren Dawn

Hello, my name is Lauren and I am a life coach based in Victoria, BC on the West Coast of Canada. Through coaching, my primary objective is to act as a resource to people who are ready to commit to themselves and their growth, and who are prepared to become accountable to their own journey. Many of the clients I work with are either unaware of or struggle to align with their potential to meet their goals, and experience feelings of being stuck or directionless. Through identifying underlying patterns and limiting beliefs, as well as working with the body and nervous system, we can introduce small but powerful attunements to help redirect you towards your life’s path.

Coaching can be a gentle but impactful resource to people who experience:

  • Challenges around career and work;
  • Questions around identity and/or sexuality;
  • Challenges around defining, asserting, and maintaining boundaries;
  • People pleasing;
  • Burn-out and extreme fatigue;
  • A complicated relationship with substances;
  • Being in codependent relationships with other people;
  • Struggles with ongoing health concerns;
  • Being stuck in cycles of self-improvement, and so on.

My goal is that over time you will become better attuned to your own wisdom and be fully present with the life you’ve designed for yourself.

About Lauren

For years I went through the motions of doing what I thought I was supposed to, including getting a university degree, to finding work in non-profit environments, post-secondary institutions, media and radio, the service industry, and in tech. While I gained valuable skills in all of these sectors and experiences, in 2022 I reached burn-out as I realized none of these careers fit quite right and I consistently ended up in jobs that drained me or left me feeling defeated.

After quitting my stable day job and venturing into a period of unemployment, I began to explore topics and environments that brought me a sense of renewed excitement and in 2023 I completed a 9-month ICF-Accredited Wayfinder Life Coaching Training program at the Martha Beck Institute.

Since then I’ve been taking additional small (and sometimes large) steps towards other life changes, at times through a combination of somatic-based trauma counselling with a registered therapist using EMDR and IFS, as well as through nervous system support and deepening my relationship with myself, my spirituality, and my own practices. Coaching has become a channel through which I get to share my healing with others, and provide a container for others to explore their own inner landscape with a compassionate witness. I take this privilege very seriously and am honoured by the trust and vulnerability my clients have shown me.

For those who are curious, some more of my personal transitions since reconnecting with myself include:

  • Gradually stepping away from hustle culture and capitalistic thinking;
  • Leaving stable careers that felt restrictive or limiting;
  • Ending friendships and long-term relationships that no longer resonated with me;
  • Practicing how to set boundaries (an ongoing process) and not needing to constantly please others (also ongoing);
  • Addressing addictive behaviours and re-navigating what it means to be in relationship with different substances;
  • Addressing health concerns through nutrition, breath work, nervous system support, mindful movement, and energy work;
  • Exploring concepts around identity as a person of mixed ethnicity (Caucasian and Iranian);
  • Exploring my sexuality as a member of the Queer community (and meeting my now fiancé!).

These are only some of the paths I’m on, and by no means exclusive of the ongoing work I’m doing to re-condition myself. The act of slowing down, creating space, and tuning in has been monumental in allowing these changes and shifts to come through, and I am constantly exploring how to do less. I hope some of this resonates with you and where you’re at, or where you would like to be, and maybe we can continue onwards together.

“Lauren helped me to recognize what my self-sabotaging behaviours are, where they came from and how to reassert myself as the one in the driver’s seat. We discovered what small practical changes I can make in my behaviour to help change the course of my thinking and life. Lauren is warm, thoughtful, and compassionate in her coaching style. She is a great listener and has helped me tie seemingly unrelated issues in myself together. After a session with Lauren, I feel more spirited, grounded, and sure of myself and the choices I make.”
